Athena CDI and coil system with variable advance for Piaggio 50cc 2-stroke engines.
The Athena system removes the Piaggio CDI in favour of a separate CDI and coil system. The CDI features an in-built microprocessor which advances the ignition up to 3 degrees based on engine speed. This system is intended for tuned scooters as the RPM increases over the standard more power can be gained by advancing the ignition which this unit does seamlessly.
Loose wire type plugs directly into older style Piaggio ignition systems but can easily be connected to the newer ignition systems.
Please note: this kit is now supplied with a 2-pin coil, the orange wire from the CDI should be connected to the green coil terminal and the black coil terminal should be connected to a ground point on the bike frame as should the black wire with the ring terminal from the cdi
